Many Uttarakhand Congress leaders headed for Nainital on Friday to express solidarity to former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat, who attended a hearing of High Court in connection with his alleged sting operation.
The court has fixed 1 October as new date for the hearing.
The Central Bureau of Investigation is all set to file preliminary inquiry report against Harish Rawat on the 2016 sting operation in which the ex-CM was seen engage in loose talks with a journalist.
As the day for the Uttarakhand High Court came near, Harish Rawat was seen performing prayer and other rituals at different places.
This provoked Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to hit ‘Har Da’ by claiming, “Harish Rawat is responsible for his own misery.”
In the 2016 TV news sting, Harish Rawat was seen saying that he has made all the arrangements for saving the government.
The comment of Trivendra Rawat, provoked Harish Rawat to make a counter attack.
Harish Rawat said, “Yes, you are true. Every person is responsible for his own misery. But, what about the miserable situation of Uttarakhand where dengue is spreading like an epidemic. Why is Uttarakhand suffering? Whose negligence is this?”
Rawat has rightly raised the dengue issue as the mosquito borne disease is spreading fast in different parts of the hill state. Dehradun, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar remain the worst affected districts.
The hospitals and nursing homes are packed with dengue patients. As the day of the court case approached near, Uttarakhand Congress hosted a joint Press conference to declare support to Harish Rawat. Uttarakhand Congress president Pritam Singh accused the Modi government for misusing the CBI.
The sting operation case is likely to hot up politics between BJP and Congress in the coming days. The case will also test the unity of Congress.
