A large number of political parties greeted actor Rajinikanth on the occasion of his 72nd birthday, indicating that he still occupies an important space in the Tamil Nadu political firmament.
The BJP was led by PM Narendra Modi right down to the State President K Annamalai and actress Kushbu, as the party still nurtures the hope that the actor would help the BJP even if he can’t join it. The party wants him to lend his ‘voice’ to the party campaign at the time of election. He had recently met TN governor RN Ravi at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai, at the end of which he told press persons that politics was discussed.

The BJP hopes Rajinikanth would throw his weight behind many of its key projects and policies. However, the actor has ruled out joining politics. He is keen on maintaining good relations especially with the DMK and enjoys a good rapport with TN Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin.
Rajnikanth has been regular in some of the films produced by Sun Pictures run by Kalanidhi Maran, son of late Murasoli Maran, nephew of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi.
Stalin was among leaders who extended their birthday greetings to the ‘Super Star’.
