Ramesh, who is the Congress MP in Rajya Sabha, along with his post also shared a report which claimed that soon the prices of soap and shampoo would become expensive.
He asserted the government should have taken steps to control inflation on a priority basis, but instead of giving relief, it is busy looting people by imposing GST on essential commodities.
“For how long will the people continue to struggle with the effects of inflation ?,” Ramesh questioned.
It may be mentioned that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge earlier said the BJP government created “economic turmoil”, leading to a mess in the lives of the common people.
“Food inflation has averaged 7.1 per cent over the last eight quarters. Indirect taxation in the form of GST on essential items are depleting household savings which are at a 50-year low. Household financial liabilities are now 6.4 per cent of GDP– the highest in decades,” he said.
