Babul Supriyo, state IT and ITes minister inaugurated a website-based loan management system for the public enterprises and industrial reconstruction department, this afternoon.

Moon Moon Sen, Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from West Bengal’s Asansol, hadn’t heard anything about the violence in the constituency because she hadn’t got “her bed tea on time”.
Sen, who is up against sitting BJP MP Babul Supriyo, was asked to comment on the clashes between BJP and TMC supporters reported from some parts of the constituency.

“They gave me my bed tea very late, so I woke up very late. What can I say? I really don’t know,” Sen was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The 65-year-old Sen also refused to respond to questions on Supriyo.

Violence was reported from Barabani in Asansol early on Monday morning as eight constituencies in the state went to polls in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019.
Union Minister Surpiyo’s car was vandalised outside a polling booth. In other parts of the constituency, TMC workers and security personnel at booth number 199 in Asansol.

A TMC polling agent said no BJP polling agent was present at the booth.
In other parts of the constituency, TMC workers insisted on polling despite the absence of central forces. Both the BJP and CPI(M) workers objected to the TMC leading to clashes between supporters of respective parties.
The absence of central forces at the polling station in Jemua led to a poll boycott by villagers.
Besides Asansol, polling is also being held in Bengal’s Baharampur, Krishnagar, Ranaghat (SC), Burdwan East (SC), Burdwan-Durgapur, Bolpur (SC) and Birbhum.
