Flight operations at Goa’s Dabolim International Airport resumed after being suspended for almost two hours in view of a fire caused by a fuel tank of MiG 29K aircraft which got detached while taking off.

The fighter jet’s fuel tank got detached while taking off and fell on the runway, spilling fuel and sparking a fire, an official of the Airport Authority of India said.

While a few civil and commercial flights were diverted and some departures slightly delayed, emergency services were immediately pressed in to quickly re-operationalise the runway.
