Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday announced that he would present the annual budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 on February 8. The assembly session will begin here on January 23.

“The budget would focus on Youth-Students-Women issues,” Gehlot told a press conference on the second and final day of Chintan Shivir here.

Pointing out that last FY budget focused on agriculture with 12 missions, he said it was implemented throughout the year 2022-23 successfully.

Stating that the two-day Chintan Shivir held on the internal matters of the government was fruitful and effective, the CM claimed that every ministers’ performance was the best and they made their departments’ presentation with full confidence.

All the cabinet ministers including MoS have unanimously resolved to urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up ‘social security’ and bring a Bill/Act on it to provide life security to every citizen, the CM said.

On the state government’s success on the Old Pension scheme (OPS), Gehlot said Chattisgarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have taken up the Rajasthan model and effected in their states. Even the courts have directed that the OPS be given to paramilitary and defense personnel. Rajasthan alone has given benefit of OPS to 1 crore people while Uttar Pradesh was just giving it to 40-50 lakh people.

Gehlot said that the state government believes in ‘Jan Seva hi Karm-Jan Seva hi Dharm’ which has brought responsive, transparent and accountable good governance on the ground in the last four years.

“All possible efforts were made to fulfill the promises made to the public. It has been the result of our government’s commitment that 77 per cent of promises made in the public manifesto have been fulfilled and 19 per cent are in progress, that is 96 per cent promises have been fulfilled.

Similarly, in the last four years, out of the 2,722 budget announcements, financial sanctions in the case of around 2,549, which constitute 94 per cent. Till now, 49 per cent budget announcements have been completed and 37 per cent are in progress, he underlined.
