Over 263 illegal coal mines detected in Assam
Despite the ban imposed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), rat-hole coal mining continues unabated in Assam, particularly in the central part of the state.
The run saw massive participation of around 2100 participants including 350 serving defence personnel from all places in and around Tezpur, Assam.

To commemorate the 73rd Independence Day celebrations, Tezpur based Gajraj Corps organized a mini-marathon run with an endeavour to foster the spirit of peace, unity and fitness as well as civil-military bonhomie for the local populace on Sunday morning.
The run saw massive participation of around 2100 participants including 350 serving defence personnel from all places in and around Tezpur, Assam. In a glittering ceremony, the race was flagged off by Lt Gen Manoj Pande, GOC 4 Corps in the presence of several civil dignitaries at the local Polo & Football ground. The event proved to be a befitting tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs with the participation from all ages and groups. In the end, a prize distribution ceremony was held for the winners of both open male and female categories.
