The Special Judge of CBI Cases here has sentenced two sub post masters and a private person, all to undergo four years simple imprisonment with fine of Rs 2 lakh each in two separate cases for money withdrawal from customers’ post-office accounts.

Two cases were registered on 29 September 2017 on separate complaints from Superintendent of Post Office, Dholpur Division in Rajasthan on the allegations that Bahadur Singh, during the period 2010-11 and Raghubar Dayal Sharma, while working as sub post master in a sub-post office during 2013-14, had entered into conspiracy with Pankaj Kumar Singhal (private person).

It was further alleged that the accused Bahadur obtained 04 original pass books of the accounts holders & forged the signatures as the account holders on the withdrawal forms/account closing forms and withdrew the amount from the MIS/SB accounts of the 04-accounts. A loss to the tune of Rs.11,46,080/- was caused to the Department of post, according to a CBI release here today.

While Raghubar, then sub-post master, during the period had entered into conspiracy with Pankaj and they obtained 05 original pass books of the account holders by making forged signatures as the account holders on the withdrawal forms/account closing forms & withdrew the amount from the MIS/SB accounts of the 05 accounts. A loss to the tune of Rs.15,85,730/- was caused to the Department of post.

After investigation, a separate chargesheets were filed in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jaipur. The charges were framed against the accused.  The Trial Court found all the said accused in both the cases guilty and convicted them.
