Four civilians were injured on Wednesday during ceasefire violations by the Pakistani Army on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
The injured included three labourers and a woman in the Mankote area, a police officer said. They were shifted to a hospital.
The Pakistani Army resorted to unprovoked shelling and indiscriminate firing in Poonch and Rajouri districts from 7.30 a.m., the officer said.
Using mortars, automatics and small arms, they were targeting Indian positions at 18 villages in Mankote and Balakote areas of Poonch and Manjakote in Rajouri.
Some cattle were also killed. Two private vehicles and an electric transformer were also damaged in the shelling from across the LoC.
“Indian positions are strongly and effectively retaliating. The exchange across the LoC was still on at all these three places till the last reports came in,” the police officer said.
