The first Vande Bharat Express is going to arrive in eastern India. On Friday, December 30, Prime Minister Narendra Modi might signal a go-ahead to it.

The train will operate between New Jalpaiguri and Howrah (HWH) (NJP).

Eastern Railway will provide the Vande Bharat Express’s rake as it travels from Howrah to New Jalpaiguri. It will be kept in the Howrah Division’s auto shed.

The train will run six days a week under the provisional timetable formulated by Eastern Railway’s operations division. It won’t be broadcast on Wednesdays every week.

There will be two stops for this train within Eastern Railway’s control. After departing from Howrah, it will make two stops, the first at New Farakka and the second at Maldah Town.

The proposed Eastern Railway timetable states that it will depart Howrah every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. At 05:55 am, it will leave Howrah station. It will depart at 09.57 am and arrive in New Farakka at 09.56. At 10.40 am, this train will arrive at Maldah Town.

The train will depart at 10.45 and arrive in New Jalpaiguri at 13.45 after stopping there for a five-minute break. It will depart New Jalpaiguri at 14.50 and arrive in Maldah Town at 17.45 in the other direction. At 17.50, it will depart after a five-minute stay. At 22:40, it will arrive in Howrah.

Between Kolkata, the state capital of West Bengal, and New Jalpaiguri, there is a lot of commuters. This is due to the fact that the only station from which travellers can travel to Darjeeling is New Jalpaiguri. For travellers heading to Sikkim and Bhutan, this station also functions as a centre. Shatabdi Express is currently operating on this route as a result. Numerous express and mail trains are also operating in addition to this.

There are now six Vande Bharat Expresses operating around the nation. It will be the seventh Vande Bharat if it starts on time. Between New Delhi and Varanasi, the nation’s first Vande Bharat Express serviced passengers. On February 15, 2019, PM Modi signalled the departure of this train. Between New Delhi to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, the second Vande Bharat ran. Mumbai and Ahmedabad are connected by the third Vande Bharat. Between New Delhi and Amb Indora in Himachal Pradesh, the fourth Vande Bharat operates. On November 11, 2022, the fifth Vande Bharat train was signalled to depart. It travels between Chennai and Mysore. On December 11, the sixth Vande Bharat was launched. It connects Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh with Nagpur in Maharashtra.
