For the first time in the history of Madhya Pradesh the state government will present a paperless budget.  The budget session of the MP Assembly began on Monday.

State Finance Minister Jagdish Devra will present a paperless budget on 1 March. Only one copy of the budget would be tabled in the House and all the MLAs would be provided with tablets to see the budget.

The Assembly Secretariat has arranged for a training of MLAs so that they can access the budget on their tabs. According to Assembly officials, pen drives carrying the budget would be distributed to other persons concerned including government officials and journalists.

Today morning the session began and MP Governor Mangubhai Patel addressed the House. He highlighted various achievements of the BJP government.

After the Governor’s address, the House was adjourned for the day and will reconvene again for regular business tomorrow morning.

This is the last budget session of the current assembly, as the next budget session would be held under a new government, with state assembly polls due at the end of this year.

This being an election year, it is being hoped that the government would present a people-friendly budget that might include several sops and benefits.
