China’s virus HMPV has knocked Uttar Pradesh, as after testing a woman from the city, a private lab has declared her HMPV positive.
The woman was admitted to a private hospital from there she was shifted to a government Hospital at 11 pm last night. In the investigation of private lab, the reports have been found positive. The sample has been sent to KGMU for further investigation. Sources said here on Thursday that the woman has been kept in isolation in ward number 11 of the hospital.The 60-year-old woman is a resident of Cantt area of Lucknow.

With the arrival of Human Meta Pneumo Virus (HMPV) in the country, the health department has become alert.Currently, 11 cases have been reported in the country till Wednesday. Doctors ,however, say people need not to worry about this. Generally it spreads during winter and causes cold, fever, cough, chest tightness etc. The easiest way to prevent this is to keep drinking water continuously despite the cold. Also, precautions should be taken like wearing a mask in crowded places, keeping distance from patients with flu-like symptoms etc.
HMPV is an heir of the Pneumoviridae virus family. It has been present in the environment for 60 years. It was identified later. It comes under the category of seasonal disease. It was first known about it in the year 2001. This infection was found in children in the Netherlands. This virus was confirmed for the first time in the country in 2003. It was confirmed for the first time in children by BJ Medical College and National Institute of Virology, Pune.
