Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present a White Paper in the Parliament on Thursday.

A White Paper serves as a comprehensive document providing detailed information, analysis, and proposals on a specific topic or issue. Its primary aim is to inform decision-making processes, propose solutions, or present recommendations for action.

It is issued by the government and is designed to shape policy and offer insights into various sectors while maintaining an objective and neutral tone.

The key characteristics of a White Paper include offering detailed and comprehensive information on a particular topic, presenting policy recommendations based on thorough analysis and research, citing authoritative sources and expert opinions, and aiming to educate stakeholders and the public about complex issues to facilitate informed decision-making.

The opposition Congress said in Parliament that it will bring a ‘Black Paper’ on the Narendra Modi government’s 10 years in response to the White Paper.

“We are raising the main issue of unemployment, which the BJP never talks about. The government discriminates against non-BJP states like Kerala, Karnataka, and Telangana,” Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said.

Responding to Kharge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked him and referred to it as “kaala teeka” amid the good work being done by his government.

The Prime Minister also referred to black robes worn by opposition MPs in the House as a mark of protest and said, “We also saw a fashion parade in the Rajya Sabha when some members came in black clothes.”

The Budget Session of the Parliament has been extended by a day till February 10. The session, which began on January 31, was slated to end on February 9.
