“It is a matter of pride for every citizen that our country has become the fifth largest economy in the world leaving behind Britain which ruled India for 200 years. Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the G-20, a group of 20 influential and powerful countries of the world,” he said.

Paying rich tributes to martyrs including Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Roshan Singh, Rajendranath Lahiri and Chandrashekhar Azad, Chief Minister Yogi said that the state of Uttar Pradesh played the most significant role in India’s freedom struggle.

“The first freedom struggle of 1857 started in Barrackpore led by Mangal Pandey of Uttar Pradesh, which was further taken forward by Amar Balidani Bandhu Singh in Gorakhpur. Rani Lakshmi Bai from Jhansi and Dhan Singh Kotwal from Meerut joined this campaign of revolution,” he said.

Stating that the BJP’s double-engine government is working by deriving inspiration from the revolutionaries, CM Yogi said, “The BJP is giving all due respect to the country’s heritage.”

The double-engine government is taking several steps to revive the spirit of the revolutionaries in Uttar Pradesh, said Yogi.
