The Election Commission will announce the schedule for General Elections 2024 and some State Assemblies tomorrow at 3 pm.
”Press Conference by the Election Commission to announce the schedule for General Elections 2024 & some State Assemblies will be held at 3 pm tomorrow, 16th March,” the ECI said on Friday.

It will be live streamed on the social media platforms of the ECI, the poll body said.

Earlier in the day, Mr Gyanesh Kumar and Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu assumed charge as Election Commissioners in the Election Commission of India.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar welcomed the newly-appointed Election Commissioners at Nirvachan Sadan. He emphasised the significance of their joining at this historic point when the ECI is all set to conduct the Lok Sabha elections.
A notification regarding the appointment of the Election Commissioners was published in the Gazette on Thursday.

Kumar had joined ECI as Election Commissioner on September 1, 2020 and assumed charge as the 25th CEC of India on May 15, 2022.
The ruling Trinamul Congress is gearing up to move the Election Commission on alleged bogus voters. This, after chief minister Mamata Banerjee expressed apprehensions on Wednesday that bogus voters may vitiate the voters’ list ahead of 2026 Assembly polls.
