Delhi Police destroyed drugs worth around 1513.05 crores seized between the years 2015 to 2022 under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ on Wednesday.
The process of destroying the seized drugs was conducted in the presence of Lieutenant Governor (LG), VK Saxena and Commissioner of Police (CP), Delhi, Sanjay Arora along with the members of the disposal committees.
The process of incineration of the drugs was carried out in an incinerator in Nilothi, Delhi. The LG expressed his satisfaction over the efforts being made by the Delhi Police to curb the drug menace in the Capital.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) said keeping in mind the government of India’s directives to formulate a drug free India, in accordance with the provisions issued by the Department of Revenue, the Ministry of Finance in compliance with a Judgment passed by the Supreme Court of India, Drug Disposal Committees (DDC) of Crime Branch and Special Cell of Delhi Police, shortlisted Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) seizures which are no longer required for any legal proceedings.
The DDCs physically examined, verified the weight and other details of the seized items with reference to the seizure report.
Further, a total quantity of 2372.830 Kg Ganja, 213.697 kg Heroin, 22.378 kg Crude Heroin, 04 Kg Ketamine, 05 kg Pseudoephedrine, 26.161 Kg Charas, 3.4 Grams LSD, 204 Grams Cocaine, 32 Tabs of Addiso-KN, 39 bottles of Pakvil, 238.652 Kg psychotropic substances seized in total of 65 cases registered have been destroyed at incinerator.
