In view of the heavy snowfall forecast in the Kashmir valley in the coming days, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Friday held a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and heads of civil departments wherein he directed all the departments to keep men, material and machinery ready to tackle any exigency that may emerge out of the expected bad weather.

He also directed officers to mobilise field staff for effective and timely response to any emergency.

The meeting was attended by all Deputy Commissioners; Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation; Director ULB and officers of line departments, including PWD, PHE, KPDCL, KPTCL, PMGSY, and telecommunication service providers.

He instructed the Mechanical Engineering Department, PWD (R&B) and PMGSY for simultaneous snow clearance to ensure all roads remain open for connectivity and transportation.

Similarly, he directed KPDCL to ensure workshops are functional to repair damaged transformers within the stipulated time frame. Besides, he instructed them to ensure the restoration of power supply lines in case of any disruption caused by snow. While addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner enjoined all officers to remain available in the field to ensure the timely restoration of services for the convenience of the general public.

He also directed them to keep citizens informed through social media regarding the maintenance works being executed to restore services.
For the smooth execution of plans, he asked all the concerned departments to work in close coordination and synergy with the respective district administrations.
