In a bid to “discipline” the party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has organised a two-day training programme ‘Abhyas Varga’ for all its MPs in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha at the Parliament Library Building in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah among others will brief the party leaders.

The party had last week communicated to all its MPs to ensure that they attend the “Abhyas Varga” starting August 3.

The party’s parliamentary office sent a message to MPs requesting them to be present in the national capital on August 3 and 4.

“The BJP Members of Parliament are requested to be present in New Delhi on August 3, Saturday and August 4, Sunday. There will be a two- day “Abhyas Varga” in New Delhi,” the message said.

Reportedly, the parliamentarians will be trained on conducting themselves inside the Parliament and outside it. They will also be informed on how to connect with the masses on social issues, it is learnt.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and BJP Working President Jagat Prakash Nadda arrived at the Parliament earlier today.

BJP MPs Ravi Kishan, Gautam Gambhir, Pragya Singh Thakur, Anurag Thakur, Giriraj Singh among others were seen arriving for the programme.

Earlier last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come down heavily on his ministers for being absent from Parliament duty and asked the party leaders to prepare a list of absentees.

The Prime Minister advised the MPs of his party to extend their scope of work beyond politics. He counselled the lawmakers to engage in social work.

In his first meeting with the new Council of Ministers on June 12, Modi had instructed all the ministers to reach office on time every morning and avoid working from home.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken oath on May 30 along with his council of ministers after leading BJP-led NDA to a big election victory in the Lok Sabha polls.

A total of 57 leaders from BJP and NDA allies were sworn in as ministers.
