Earlier on April 15, the Election Commission had banned Yogi Adityanath from election campaigning for 72 hours for violating MCC.

Defending his “Babur ki aulad” remark at a rally, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that “stage is not for singing ‘bhajans’ but to attack the opposition”.
“Aapsi baatcheet ko kahin quote karna achar sanhita mein nahi aata hai… Koi bhajan karne ke liye jaata hai kya manch pe? Ukhad dene ke liye aur apne virodhi ko gherne ke liye manch pe jate hain,” Yogi told ANI.
The Election Commission (EC) had on Thursday issued a show cause notice to the UP CM for his remark while addressing a rally in Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh on April 19. The poll body has given him 24 hours to reply to the notice.

Adityanath had said, “would you hand over the reins of the country to terrorists, to those who call themselves children of Babur (Babur ki aulad)…to those who oppose Bajrangbali”.
The poll panel cited a provision under the Model Code of Conduct which states that no activity should be carried out which may aggravate existing difference or create mutual hatred between communities.
Earlier on April 15, the Election Commission had banned Yogi Adityanath from election campaigning for 72 hours for violating the Model Code of Conduct by making objectionable statements.
Similar action was also taken against BSP chief Mayawati, SP leader Azam Khan and Union Minister Maneka Gandhi.
The EC had earlier last month, let off Yogi with a light rap for his “Modiji ki sena” remark, asking him to be more careful in the future.
