National capital is on high alert with Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) planning to target more than 400 sensitive buildings and markets in the city ahead of Diwali festival.
A Delhi Police official told IANS, “Rohini, North-East, North-West, North, East, Central, New Delhi and Dwarka – eight of the 15 districts in Delhi are considered sensitive.”

These districts are said to have 425 buildings identified as sensitive. Out of these eight districts, New Delhi has about 200 buildings identified as sensitive, all of which have been provided additional security.
Some prime buildings in the national capital like the Prime Minister’s office, Parliament house, Rashtrapati Bhavan are always in the sensitive category. Now markets like Connaught Place and Khan Market have been added in the list.
Other locations in the city like the Jama Masjid in Central Delhi district, Delhi Police Headquarters, Rouse Avenue Court, Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar, Anand Vihar are some other important places where the terrorists may target.
New Delhi District Deputy Commissioner of Police Eish Singhal told IANS, “We do not have any intelligence input of any kind of threat, but we have enhanced security in the city ahead of Diwali.”
Police stations in the city have been asked to keep their gates locked with the sentry posted there round the clock, only government vehicles are allowed entry inside, since last week. Dog squads and Quick Reaction teams have been put on 24-hour alert and picket duties have also been enhanced.
