The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said on Tuesday the party would take a decision on cabinet minister Anil Sharma, whose father and son joined the Congress on Monday, at the “right time”.
Addressing mediapersons, state BJP general secretary Chandermohan Thakur said on Tuesday leaving party or staying with BJP was the decision of Sharma and his future course depended only on him.

Replying to a query whether Sharma would take part in the poll campaign, Thakur said if the power minister considered himself a party person he should attend the rallies, otherwise he shouldn’t.
“Action will be taken against him if he goes against party line,” he added.

Thakur lashed at the Congress and other opposition parties for abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders and said the party used these barbs to counter their false campaign.
“Main Bhi Chowkidar campaign is the result of malicious agenda of the Congress party and now the people across all sections are now proudly terming themselves as chowkidars,” he said.
State BJP general secretary said the Congress ruled the country for over 50 years and only 14-15 paise of sanctioned Re 1 for general public used to reach the beneficiaries.
“Now, such leaders who robbed the general public of 60-65 paise that were meant for them had the audacity to call PM Modi ‘chor’ (thief). While the fact is that Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, his mother Sonia Gandhi and brother-in-law Robert Vadra are all out on bail in corruption cases,” he added.
As part of the campaign, four meetings would be held in Paonta Sahib in Shimla parliamentary constituency, Bangana in Una district in Hamirpur LS segment, Dharamshala in Kangra LS seat and Jahu in Mandi parliamentary constituency on 31 March.
PM Modi would address the party through video-conferencing and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, ministers and MLAs of the constituency, and candidates of the four Lok Sabha seats would take part in these programmes.
Replying to a query as to why all BJP leaders were prefixing Chowkidar to their names, he said it implied they would stand guard to protect our democracy, borders and natural resources from corrupt leaders.
“Even honest Congress leaders can come forward and become a part of our campaign to protect and preserve the vibrant democracy of our country,” he added.
