Congress president Rahul Gandhi and micro-blogging site Twitter have been issued notices by Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights for ‘disclosing’ the identity of two minor boys, who were victims of assault.
As per the law, identity of minor victims cannot be disclosed.

“I issued notices to Gandhi and Twitter as they have disclosed the identity of victims”, said president of the commission Pravin Ghuge.
Ghuge said he has sought a reply from Rahul Gandhi and Twitter within 10 days, as to why action should not be taken against them under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
A video showing two minor boys being stripped and beaten up for bathing in a well belonging to a upper caste farmer in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra had gone viral last week.
Gandhi had tweeted about the incident tagging the video, and had blamed the RSS and Bharatiya Janata Party’ politics for rising atrocities against the backward classes.
“The sole crime of these Dalit children was they were taking a dip in a well. Humanity is struggling to save its dignity,” Gandhi had tweeted on Friday.
He had said if “we don’t raise our voices against this politics of hate and poison of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and BJP, history would not forgive us”.

Notice nonsensical: Sanjay Nirupam
Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam dismissed the notice, calling it nonsensical. “The notice is nothing but bakwaas (nonsense). The notice should have been sent to the Maharashtra chief minister who has failed to protect the rights and dignity of children. Rahul Gandhi simply highlighted this sorry state of affairs,” he said.
