Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday raised the tempo for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya saying that the country will stop trusting the NDA government if that doesn’t happen now.
“I feel this time around Ram temple’s construction will start because if we don’t, the country will stop trusting us. Now BJP has 303 MPs, Shiv Sena has 18, NDA has more than 350, what more is needed to construct the temple?” he was quoted as saying by ANI.
The senior Shiv Sena leader also stressed that the post of Deputy Speaker in Lok Sabha should go to a candidate from his party.
“Humari yeh demand nahi hai; humara ye natural claim aur hakk hai. Yeh pad Shiv Sena ko milna chahiye (This is not our demand. This is our natural claim. Shiv Sena should get this position),” he said.
Shiv Sena and the BJP performed remarkably well in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections in the state.
Of the 48 seats in Maharashtra, the BJP won 23 and the Shiv Sena 18. The opposition NCP won 4 seats, the Congress, an Independent candidate and AIMIM bagged one seat each.
The demand for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya gained crescendo in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. In Uttar Pradesh, where Ayodhya is located, the BJP managed to win 62 of the 80 seats keeping a joint SP-BSP-RLD at bay.
The BSP won 10 seats and the SP got 5.
