Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge held a meeting with the National Alliance Committee (NAC) here on Thursday to discuss the strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The meeting came days after the NAC held deliberations with various party units including UP and Maharashtra over the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The meetings with the senior leaders were held to take their views on seat-sharing for the general elections.

The panel led by convenor Mukul Wasnik apprised Kharge about the meetings held so far with the party’s several state units.
Notably, several parties of the INDIA have already stressed the need to finalise on seat sharing at the earliest. The Opposition bloc is an umbrella of Opposition parties formed to take on the ruling BJP in the Lok Sabha polls.
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary in-charge of organisation KC Venugopal were also present in the meeting held at Kharge’s residence.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Wasnik said, “We apprised Kharge ji and Rahul ji about the meetings held so far with the party’s state unit on seat sharing. Very soon we will discuss over seat sharing with the parties of INDIA alliance.”
In response to a question, he said our main objective is formation of INDIA alliance government at the Centre.
Earlier in the day, the Congress chief held a meeting with the state Congress presidents and CPP at the party headquarters here. They discussed the general elections and upcoming ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ now called ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra’. The yatra which will kick off from Imphal on January 14 will be led by Gandhi.
