before he commited suicide has put the Congress leadership in Kerala

The letters and notes were found stored under Vijayan’s eldest son
Vijesh’s bed. Vijesh handed over the note to the police on Monday.
Vijayan and his son Jijesh (38), a former employee of the Sulthan
Bathery Urban Cooperative Bank died allegedly by suicide, on December
27.

The father-son duo were found in a critical condition at their
residence on December 24 and were shifted to the Government Medical
College Hospital in Kozhikode, where they succumbed.

Vijayan had written six letters before his death. While one was
addressed to his other son Vijesh, the other was addressed to several
Congress leaders including Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi, former Wayanad
MP Rahul Gandhi, VD Satheesan, K Sudhakaran and the police.

The suicide note reportedly contains allegations of debt, the
incident of taking bribes in the cooperative bank, and the insult that
no one cared about him during the crisis despite standing with the
Congress party. In addition, the letter sent to KPCC president K
Sudhakaran mentions that MLA I C Balakrishnan had taken money for
appointments in various cooperative banks

In his letter, Vijayan narrated details of the amounts collected from
different candidates for appointments in Congress-ruled cooperative
banks, the names of Congress leaders who received these funds,
including I C Balakrishnan, N D Appachan and K K Gopinathan, and the
loans he took for paying back these amounts. Vijayan mentioned in his
suicide note that he wanted this note to be handed over to Congress
leaders, and directed his son Vijesh to wait for 10 days and then hand
it over to the Wayanad district police chief

The letter also reportedly mentioned that Vijayan provided collateral
for Rs 10 lakh borrowed by Appachan, which led to a legal case. The
reports indicate that Viajyan has a liability of Rs 1.5 crore in
different banks

Vijayan’s son Vijesh said he met KPCC president K Sudhakaran and
leader of opposition VD Satheesan regarding this matter. But he did
not receive any positive response. In the letter, Vijayan addressed
Vijesh, specifically mentioning that, if the party leadership did not
take any action, he should release the letter to the media and police

“I have taken a loan of Rs 7 lakh for repaying the bribe amount for
appointment at the Sultan Bathery Urban Cooperative Bank as well as
for meeting the expenses of several party activities on the
instructions of I C Balakrishnan. My financial liabilities are not
known to my family members. My son’s family should not suffer owing to
this. If I revealed these matters before my death, I can’t bear to
witness that I became the one to cause insult to the party. However,
the party hasn’t taken any step to solve my financial crisis.
Therefore, if I die due to mental pressure, the persons I mentioned
should be held responsible for it,” Vijayan stated in his note.

The note also reveals that Vijayan’s son Jijesh was fired from his job
in the bank to appoint someone else as per Balakrishnan’s wishes and
that the leaders took a loan from Sultan Bathery Urban Cooperative
Bank in his name.

Meanwhile, the committee appointed by the KPCC to investigate the
controversy surrounding the suicide of NM Vijayan will arrive in
Wayanad on Wednesday . The investigation committee will reach the
Kalpetta DCC office at 10 am and meet the leaders. The committee
members will also visit the house of the late Wayanad DCC treasurer NM
Vijayan and conduct a detailed investigation.
