Himachal Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the state government of misleading the public of the state on money it borrowed from the Centre
Calling the incumbent government a bundle of lies, state BJP President Rajeev Bindal said here on Tuesday, “The Congress government is completing one year of coming to power and has already taken a loan of Rs 11,000 crore in 10 months which has been made public by the BJP after accessing information under RTI,” he said.

Bindal reiterated that the information was collected from the data of the present state government according to which the Congress government had taken a loan of Rs 10,800 crore by December 2023 whereas the loan raised from NABARD and other institutions is in addition to this, he added.
Sharing that RTI information, he claimed that after assuming power on 11 December 2022, the government has taken a loan of Rs 1,500 crore on 19 January 2023, Rs 2,000 crore on 16 February, Rs 1,500 crore on 16 March and Rs 1700 crore on 24 March.
Similarly, it has taken a loan of Rs 800 crore on 1 June, 2023, Rs 1,000 crore on 28 June, Rs 500 crore on 31 August, Rs 1,000 crore on 12 October and Rs 800 crore on 19 November 2023, he claimed.
“Till now, this government has taken a loan of Rs 10,800 crore. From January to March 2023, this government took a loan of Rs 6700 crore and from March to November 2023, this government took a loan of Rs 4100 crore,” he asserted.
The state government is trying to create a mountain of deception to mislead the people of the state stating that the Central government is not providing financial assistance, this is also a white lie, he claimed, adding that almost all the works of the state government are being run with the cooperation of the central government which includes repair of roads, maintenance, treatment in hospitals, drinking water, construction of four lanes, national highways, through Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, through MNREGA, through welfare.
The benefits of all the schemes are coming from the Centre, he claimed.
