Gandhi, is currently the MP from Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

According to a communique issued by Congress general secretary in-charge of organisation KC Venugopal, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Gandhi is the party’s nominee in Rajasthan. The other three candidates are Akhilesh Prasad Singh in Bihar, Abhishek Manu Singhvi in Himachal Pradesh and Chandrakant Handore in Maharashtra.

Dr Singhvi, an eminent jurist and visible media personality, was among the 68 members who retired recently from the Rajya Sabha.
“Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the candidature of the following persons as Congress candidates to contest the biennial elections to the Council of States from these states,” the statement said.
Elections to 56 Rajya Sabha seats in 15 states are scheduled to be held on February 27. The last date of filing of nomination is February 15.
