The Congress on Monday announced the ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’ under which it vowed to provide Rs 2,500 to every woman per month if the party comes to power in the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar along with Congress’ Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin and party’s Delhi unit chief Devender Yadav made the announcement of the scheme at the party’s Delhi unit office in the city.

Addressing the media, Shivakumar, who is also the Karnataka Congress president said, “We are launching the ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’. I am confident that the Congress government will come to Delhi. We are going to implement this Yojana on the first day of the Cabinet.”

He said under the ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’, Rs 2,500 will be given to every woman per month as per the Karnataka model.

Shivakumar said all the guarantees promised by the Congress prior to the Assembly elections, were implemented within three months after the party came to power in the state.

Referring to the works of the Congress-led government at Karnataka, he said, “Women in entire state are travelling free in buses, Rs 3,000 is being given to the unemployed youth, 200 unit of power has been given under Gruha Jyothi Scheme, and Rs 2,000 is being given to every women under Gruha Lakshmi scheme. Almost all women are being benefited.”

Delhi in-charge Nizamuddin said ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’ is the first guarantee of Congress ahead of the Assembly polls.

“Pyari Didi Yojana is the first guarantee of Congress ahead of the polls. The Congress is committed for upliftment of every section of the society,” he said.

Attacking the BJP, he said, “Everyone knows the false promises of the BJP, whether giving Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts, employment to the youths. But, the Congress party does not lie like the BJP. Where our government is there, we have been working for the betterment of every section of the people, especially the women.”

The Delhi Congress chief also vowed to implement the ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’ after it comes to power in Delhi and added that the grand old party fulfilled all its guarantees in the states including Himachal Pradesh and Telangana after it rode to power in the respective states.
