Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, while reviewing the works of Himachal Pradesh Sainik Welfare Department at Raj Bhavan on Thursday, said that all the formalities of re-constitution of Rajya Sainik Board and State Management Committee should be completed soon, so that all matters pertaining to ex-servicemen and their complaints can be dealt effectively and expeditiously.
He said that the department of Sainik Welfare is playing a vital role in looking after the rehabilitation and welfare of ex-servicemen, war widows, world war veterans, disabled soldiers and their dependents and families of serving soldiers.

The facility of 15 percent reservation has been provided for the recruitment of ex-servicemen in class III and IV in various departments of the state, he added.
“The department needs to work more diligently in providing information about the armed forces to the general public and also disseminate the welfare measures being undertaken to increase the interest of youth in the forces,” said Shukla, adding that several schemes were being implemented by the central and state governments for the welfare of the ex-servicemen.
