Noting that the country’s farmers should not be worried about financial assistance for their farms, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said his government was committed to double farm income by 2022.
“We are committed to double farmers’ income by 2022. We are trying that our farmers should have no worries regarding financial assistance for their farms,” Modi said as he inaugurated the annual ‘Krishi Unnati Mela’ at Indian Agricultural Research Institute here.

“The Centre is working with state governments to ensure farmers get the benefits of Minimum Support Price (MSP),” he added.
Modi said there was record produce of food grain, fruits and vegetables and milk in the country and to keep the momentum going, several modern apps have been launched for the farmers.
As part of the three-day fair that focuses on doubling farmer’s income by 2022, Modi unveiled a portal on organic farming and laid the foundation stone of 25 Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
He then conferred the ‘Krishi Karman’ and ‘Deen Dayal Upadhya Krishi Vigyan Protsahan’ awards.
Modi also visited some of the over 600 stalls that displayed latest agriculture and allied sector technologies
The objective of the fair is to create awareness among farmers about the latest agriculture related technological developments adding that lakhs of farmers and agriculture scientists will participate in the event.
