K Kavitha questions Modi’s silence on Adani US bribery indictment
Political opponents are arrested without evidence and put on trial for months while Mr Gautam Adani walks free despite repeated and grave allegations, she said.
“We must recall the partition horrors to ensure that this never happens again,” emphasized Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri at the inauguration of the ‘Horrors of Partition’ exhibition today. The exhibition stems from Prime Minister Modi’s declaration two years ago, marking August 14 as ‘Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas’ or Partition Horrors Remembrance Day to honor those who perished during partition.
Puri urged comprehensive understanding of that period, highlighting how artificial divisions result in devastating consequences. Reminiscing a time when refugees faced prejudice and derogatory labels, Puri acknowledged their pivotal role in nation-building.
Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, urged the youth to preserve the freedom fought for by their forefathers.

The exhibition featured a chronological display of pictures, shedding light on the origins of partition and the ensuing atrocities. It showcased leaders who supported the two-nation theory, dubbed the “Pakistan gang.”
Curated thoughtfully, the pictures depicted the agony and helplessness of the people. They depicted property destruction, violence, atrocities against women, newspaper articles, and more.
The exhibition’s core purpose is to pay homage to the lives tragically lost during partition and to actively prevent such devastation from recurring. The minister appealed to citizens to promote peaceful coexistence and harmony.
