The cold wave condition continued across the entire Uttar Pradesh. The minimum temperature in the state recorded between 3 and 4 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature was below normal, the weather office said here on Monday.
Meanwhile, four people including a woman were killed and 10 others were critically injured when a private sleeper bus from Gujarat hit a vehicle on Agra-Lucknow expressway on early Monday morning due to fog.
Police said the bus was going to Palia in Lakhimpur Kheri from Rajkot in Gujarat. It hit a potato laden mini truck at Auras at around 0600 hrs. Police said that the bus was carrying around 60 passengers, all natives of Nepal. These passengers worked as labourers in the factories of Rajkot.
The weathermen have issued alert in 16 districts including Baghpat, Meerut, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Rampur, Bareilly, Bulandshahr, Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Ayodhya and Sultanpur districts of dense fog and cold wave.
In the Awadh region, Ayodhya again remained the coldest in the state with its minimum temperature of three degrees. Earlier there was a minimum temperature of 2 degree Celsius on Friday. Minimum temperature of 4.1 degree Celsius was recorded in Rae Bareli and Bahraich and 4 degrees in Lucknow.
