Madarihat by-election campaign heats up
As the Madarihat by-election approaches on 13 November, the stalled road over bridge (ROB) at a railway crossing in Birpara has emerged as a key campaign issue.
BJP Kerala president Kummanam Rajasekharan on Sunday said CPI-M state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s statement that India is cornering and attacking China, amounts to sedition.
He demanded that a case of treason should be taken against Balakrishnan for the statement.
Stating that Balakrishnan’s stance is anti-national, he asked the leadership of the CPI-M to clarify whether its loyalty lies with India or China.

If people like Balakrishnan cannot love their own country ,they should be ready to go to their dream land, Rajasekharan said here.
“It’s a matter of serious concern that the CPM leader has taken a stance in favour of China when the Indo-China relationship is under tension. It is unfortunate that the state secretary of a responsible political party talked in favour of China just the day after the Army Chief had said that India is facing more threat from China than Pakistan,”said Rajasekharan.
Accusing the CPI-M as a party that favoured China even during the 1962 Indo-China war, he said the party (CPI-M) should have been banned then itself.
He further said that CPI-M leaders like Pinarayi Vijayan and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan talk in high regard of autocratic nations like China and North Korea because they have the least faith in democracy
