Now in its fourth decade, Cirque du Soleil is the first name that comes to your mind when you speak of circus arts and live entertainment. The global theatrical leader from Canada known worldwide for their aesthetics, live music and acrobatic feats tours the globe round the year. There are only a few countries in the world that Cirque du Soleil has not wowed with its performance. India has one of them.

The wait is going to be over now. Come November 15, the troupe is coming to India with Cirque du Soleil ‘BAZZAR’, it’s 43rd production since 1984, and will hold multiple shows in Mumbai and the national capital of Delhi under its famous Big Top tent. Bookings have opened on Book My Show, which is bringing Cirque du Soleil to India for the very first time, and seats are filling up fast.

Tickets are available for shows to be held in Mumbai’s MMRDA Grounds from November 15 to December 2, and Delhi’s GMR Aerocity from December 25 to January 6.

“’BAZZAR’ is a jaw-dropping medley of all the things we love about Cirque du Soleil: spectacular acrobatics, foot-stomping music, dance, drama, colour, creativity, comedy, magical lighting and more. It’s a true blockbuster!,” Book My Show says on its website.

A crew of 62 people will be travelling to India, and only 1,500 spectators will be attending each performance. The ticket prices start from Rs 1,250 and go up to Rs 13,500. Bulk booking options are also available for a minimum of 20 tickets.

Cirque du Soleil is famous for out of the world acrobatics, superb choreography and fascinating characters.

“After entertaining millions of people in sixty countries over the years, there are few remaining markets we have yet to visit. BAZZAR offers us new possibilities to introduce our brand. It enables us to continue our international growth in markets that offer great potential such as India and opens the door to exploring the African continent,” the Cirque du Soleil website says quoting Finn Taylor, Senior Vice-President, Touring Shows, Cirque du Soleil.

“Creating a show specifically to introduce Cirque du Soleil to a totally new audience is a creative challenge. It pushes our creators to find our essence and articulate it in a way that is universally understandable. With its story centered on the creative process itself and the energy found in the unexpected, BAZZAR shines a light on what is uniquely Cirque du Soleil,” explains Susan Gaudreau, director of the show.

The show will include fire breathing and stilt walking, key features of a Cirque du Soleil event.

Led by their maestro, the troupe of acrobats, dancers and musicians are known for crafting an awe-inspiring, unique and whimsical universe. In the group’s own words, you can expect the unexpected every moment as the artistes’ combine “reimagines, rebuilds and reinvents vibrant scenes in an artistic, acrobatic game of order and disorder”.

Having started with 20 street performers in 1984, the Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group is credited with reinventing circus arts. The Canadian organisation has enthralled over 190 million spectators in close to 450 cities in 60 countries. The group currently employs over 4,000 people, including 1,400 artistes, from nearly 50 countries.
