Bhupen Kumar Borah, the Assam State Congress president, has been summoned by the CID for the third time in connection with alleged violations during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Guwahati on January 23.
Borah has been directed to appear before the CID office on March 12 regarding the case, following two prior summons, the latest being on March 7.
In response, Borah cited prior commitments, particularly his father’s death anniversary, which requires his presence for rituals during the first half of the day of the summons.
He also mentioned an engagement with the party’s Central Election Committee later in the day.
Borah expressed willingness to cooperate but proposed appearing after the release of the candidates’ list.
Borah also offered the CID to answer questions via video conferencing and even proposed live telecast of his responses.
This marks the third summon issued to him by the CID in this case.
