The official Twitter account of Indian Army’s 15 Corps, also known as Chinar Corps, was removed by the US-based social media company on Friday but was restored soon.

Twitter said that the handle was removed “by mistake” during an exercise against over a million fake handles.

“#ChinarCorps Twitter handle is fully functional & verified now. Thank you all for the constant support, encouragement & suggestions,” Chinar Corps tweeted after the verification.

Chinar Corps is one of the most important corps of the Indian Army, overseeing counter-terrorism operations in the Kashmir Valley and at Line of Control (LoC).

According to The Print, Twitter was immediately contacted following the suspension of the account. The company then immediately restored the handle and also started adding back followers.

Chinar Corps is a part of the Northern Command and is headquartered at Srinagar.

The suspension of the account surprised officials. The handle is the source of important information regarding operations and also helps counter propaganda.

At the time of writing the official Twitter handle had over 41K followers.

Twitter is reportedly suspending thousands of accounts run by the Pakistan military’s propaganda wing ISPR and the terror sympathisers in the Valley.
