The Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday arrested former TMC strongman Shahjahan Sheikh’s brother Alamgir Sheikh and two others in connection with the alleged assault on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali in January early this year.
The other two accused have been identified as Mafujar Molla, and Sirajul Molla. The probe agency has arrested a total of six people in the case so far as the investigation is currently underway.

The CBI had issued summons to Sheikh Alamgir on 13 March regarding the attack on the ED officials in Sandeshkhali on 5 January. The agency made the arrests following their investigation.
Earlier on March 11, the CBI had arrested three people identified as Didar Baksh Molla, Faruk Akunji and Jiaudddin Molla, the Panchayat Pradhan of Sarberia Panchayat.
The CBI is investigating the incident of the attack on the ED in Sandeshkhali, under court orders.
Shahjahan, the primary suspect, is currently under the CBI custody.
The CBI team had visited Sandeshkhali multiple times. They have conducted raids at the homes of the suspects and issued notices for questioning.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate has also issued a notice to Sheikh Alamgir for interrogation in connection with the multi-crore ration distribution case in West Bengal.
