Investigations against drug mafia will be intensified: Kochi Police Commissioner

After a preliminary probe into allegations that the Kerala High Court lawyer Saiby Jose Kidangoor collected lakhs of rupees from his clients on the pretext of bribing judges, the Kochi City Police Commissioner has filed a report with the state police chief.
In the report, the City Police Commissioner reportedly recommended a detailed investigation in the matter. The probe team recorded the statements of over 14 people including that of lawyer Saiby Jose Kidangoor, two Ranni residents and a film producer, clients of Kidangoor.

The two Ranni residents are alleged to have paid Kidangoor Rs 50 lakh for obtaining a favourable verdict. Along with the probe report, the investigation team also filed several documents related to the allegations, it is learnt.

The Kochi City Police Commissioner has conducted the preliminary probe as per the direction of the state police chief. The direction to conduct a preliminary investigation in this regard was on the basis of the request of the High Court Registrar in the wake of the report of the High Court Vigilance wing.
The Kerala High Court Vigilance wing, which conducted an inquiry into the allegation that lawyer Saiby Jose Kidangoor collected lakhs of rupees from his clients on the pretext of bribing judges, has reportedly found prima facie sufficient material to proceed against him.
The Kerala High Court, the other day, in an extraordinary action has recalled the orders granting anticipatory bail to the accused in a case in which the petitioners were represented by advocate Saiby Jose Kidangoor, who is facing allegation that he has collected lakhs of rupees from his clients on the pretext of bribing judges.
