An officer of the BSF was wounded on Tuesday when Pakistan troops indulged in sniper fire at an Indian position in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district in Jammu.

The officer of the rank of assistant commandant has been shifted to the hospital for treatment.

A BSF spokesman confirmed the incident and said that the firing was strongly retaliated on the international border.

Pakistan troops also resorted to unprovoked shelling in civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district.

A spokesman of the Army said that “at about 10 am, Pakistan initiated unprovoked Cease Fire Violation by Small Arms Fire and also shelling with heavy caliber weapons in Sunderbani Sector (J&K). Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively.”
