BRS supremo takes oath as Gajwel MLA

BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao was on Thursday sworn in as the MLA from Gajwel, almost two months after the Telangana Assembly elections were held in the southern state.

Rao, also known as KCR, was unable to take oath with other MLAs in December last as he underwent a hip replacement surgery following a fall at his farm house.

He will also be the Leader of Opposition in the Telangana Assembly.

Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar administered the oath to Rao in the presence of Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu and other key leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Rao will now lead his party legislators in the upcoming Budget session. In the very first session after the change in government, the treasury benches had managed to corner the Opposition by presenting several white papers of finance and power departments.

There is wide speculation that KCR might contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Medak, the only seat which is certain to go the BRS way. Rao’s invincibility in electoral fray has been dimmed a bit after his recent loss from Kamareddy constituency though he had won handsomely from Gajwel.
