BJP leader and former finance minister Arun Jaitley passed away on Saturday at AIIMS, Delhi, days after he was admitted to the hospital.

He was 66 years old.

Jaitley had been put on life support system and breathed his last at 12:07 pm today, according to the bulletin put out by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Condolences have begun pouring in from all quarters. Several political leaders and prominent personalities from across the country took to social media to pay their respects to the tall leader.

PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah were among the first few to grieve the leader’s loss.

Bollywood celebrities and members of the entertainment industry expressed heartfelt messages on Twitter.

Actor turned politician, Sunny Deol wrote, “Nation loses another great leader. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.#ArunJaitley.”

Musician Adnan Sami shared, ” Saddened to learn the news of Arun Jaitley ji’s passing away. He was a very kind soul. Rest in Peace.#ArunJaitley.”

Actor Riteish Deshmukh expressed condolences to Jaitley’s family and loved ones.

Model and actress Koena Mitra wrote, “Our nation loses another Great leader !! Rest in Power Master. Om Shanti.”

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh also took to his official Twitter handle to write, “The nation loses a great leader… You will be missed, #ArunJaitley ji… Thoughts and prayers with the family… ॐ शांति.”

Filmmaker and producer Karan Johar wrote, “#RIPArunJaitley … the nation mourns a strong and assured leader today….thoughts and prayers with his family and loved ones….”

Anil Kapoor shared a personal anecdote from his first meeting with Jaitley.

Actor Ajay Devgn admired Jaitley’s “dynamic vision for India.”
