The parents of Dulal Kumar, a BJP worker who was found hanging from a power transmission tower in West Bengal Purulia, have refuted the post-mortem report and alleged TMC’s role behind the death of their son.

The post-mortem report of Dulal had suggested suicide as the possible reason for his death.

Newly appointed Purulia SP Akash Magharia talked to the media on Sunday and said, “We received postmortem report, which states “death due to asphyxia, hanging ante-mortem and suicidal ingestion. We are taking formal action.”

Later in the day, victim’s father claimed that his son can’t commit suicide and alleged that he was killed by TMC workers.

Dulal had gone missing on Friday and his body was found hanging on Saturday morning. Kumar was found hanging from a power transmission tower near the fields in Dava village under Balarampur police station on Saturday morning.

Last week on Wednesday, the body of a 20-year-old college student, also a BJP worker was found hanging from a tree in Purulia’s Balarampur with a chilling message. A note written on the back of his white T-shirt said, “BJP politics at only 18 years.”

There was also a poster which was found nearby which read, “Have been trying to do this since the polls, couldn’t. Today your life ends.”

On Friday, hundreds of workers and leaders of the West Bengal BJP held protests and demonstrations against the ‘killing’ of young activists in the Purulia district.

The demonstrations were held outside several police stations as they accused the state administration of failing to maintain law and order.

Earlier, the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal had replaced Joy Biswas as the SP of the district and appointed Magharia in his place, following the two back-to-back incidents.
