BJP moves ECI against Kejriwal’s remarks on Hindu, Sikh refugees over CAA

Criticising the Centre for the implementation of the CAA, the AAP chief had anticipated migrations on a large scale which, he said, could result in chaos and may lead to a rise in crime and instability in the country.

A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and party leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his remarks on Hindu and Sikh refugees over the CAA.

Speaking to reporters outside the ECI office in New Delhi, Mandaviya said after the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the Delhi CM made objectionable remarks about Sikh, Parsi, and Buddhist refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

He further said a delegation of Sikh refugees led by Sirsa met the ECI in this regard.

Speaking on the occasion, Sirsa said that the Sikh and Hindu refugees in Delhi have been complaining that some political parties, which are questioning the CAA, are spreading false information about the refugees. Calling them (the parties) bad elements, he said they would disturb the atmosphere in the country.

Sirsa said the Sikh and Hindu refugees approached the DSGMC to register their complaint against what they said hatred is being spread against them by comparing them with criminals.

“It is being said about the Sikh and Hindu refugees, who hail from Pakistan and Afghanistan, that they would create issues if they settled here, claim jobs of the people of India, disturb the law and order, and further make trouble,” Sirsa rued.

He said, “We have brought to the notice of the Election Commission all that Arvind Kejriwal said against us.”

He pointed out that the Hindu, Sikh, Parsi, and Buddhist refugees had no other option but to come to India to save their religion and lives, and to ensure the safety of their daughters. Since these people have their roots in India, the government brought the CAA to save them and give them citizenship.

The AAP chief had slammed the Centre for the implementation of the CAA, saying the government was unable to create enough jobs for its own people, how then can it provide jobs to the refugees, how would it accommodate around 1.5 crore people from other countries.

Kejriwal said migrations on such a large scale would result in chaos and may lead to a rise in crime and instability in the country.

On Thursday, Hindu and Sikh refugees protested outside the CM’s house.
