Though the Congress party has not declared its candidate as yet, late Bhanwarlal’s son Anil Sharma, who is presently chairman of the Board of Rajasthan State Economically Backward Class is most likely to be the party candidate, party sources said here on Tuesday.
It has been a trend in the Congress to give party tickets to sons or wives the dead MLAs for assembly bypolls in Sujangarh, Ballabgarh, and Sahara assembly constituency since 2018 when the party came to power under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
However, the Congress won nine times from the Sardarshahar constituency in the assembly elections, while the BJP won only twice, in 1980 and 2008 while the Janata Dal won three times and Lok Dal candidates won once from here in the assembly polls since the first elections held in 1951.
