The BJP accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of anti-Hindu bias through a policy on festival holidays. The party said the Bihar government slashed the number of holidays for Hindu festivals in schools of the state while increasing that for the Muslim festivals.

The BJP’s allegation BJP of appeasement politics against Nitish Kumar came a day after the state’s Education Department issued the holiday calendar for 2024.

In a post on X, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey wrote, “Bihar will not tolerate those who have ruined it. The pro-Muslim Nitish-Tejashwi Yadav (deputy chief minister) government has abolished holidays for many Hindu festivals from schools. This planned attack on Sanatan will not be tolerated.”

Choubey, who is an MP from Bihar’s Buxar parliamentary constituency, further said, “Nitish babu the people of Bihar understand your appeasement game very well.”

Echoing similar sentiments, BJP MP and former deputy chief minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi in a post on X wrote, “Cancellation of holidays is a sign of anti-Hindu mentality.”

Attacking the Janata Dal (United) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Government in Bihar, the parliamentarian said, “The Nitish-led government has shown an anti-Hindu face. The holidays have been selectively slashed for Hindu festivals, while increased for Muslim festivals.”

Union Minister for Rural Development Giriraj Singh also took to the micro-blogging site to slam the JDU-RJD Government for its policy on festival holidays. Singh, who represents the Begusarai parliamentary constituency, euphemistically called the state the “Islamic Republic of Bihar”. “Nitish and Lalu (Yadav of RJD) government extended holidays for Muslim festivals in schools, and ended holidays for Hindu festivals,” he pointed out.

“The way they are attacking Hindus, in the future they will be known as Mohammad Nitish and Mohammad Lalu,” he added.
