A tourist, believed to be from Australia, was found hanging from a tree on Saturday inside a forest in Bodh Gaya, Bihar.
Bodh Gaya is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites.
The tourist was identified as Heath John. According to the media reports, police suspect that John has committed suicide.
Earlier today, locals, who were passing by the forest this morning, had spotted John’s body hanging from the tree. They informed the police.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered John’s bag, a diary and water bottle.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, police have also recovered a suicide note. In the note, John asked police to inform about his death to his sister in Australia.
He had, reportedly, arrived in India in June for a two-day-visit. However, he decided to stay for long.
