After the gruesome incident in Delhi’s Kanjhawala on New Year’s night, when a 20-year-old girl died after being dragged by a car for about 12 km, a heart-wrenching incident came to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district on Wednesday.

A dumper filled with ballast crushed a junior female clerk of the Agricultural University while she was on her scooter.

Police said on Thursday that the incident took place near the Mawai Buzurg Bypass, about five kilometres from the Banda city headquarters, at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The deceased is Pushpa Singh (32), a mother of two who worked as a junior clerk at the Agriculture University. She was going to Mawai Buzurg Chauraha after buying vegetables on Scooty when a dumper coming from behind crushed her near the university gate.

Pushpa’s scooter got stuck in the dumper and caught fire.  she, along with her scooter, was razed to ashes.

She was dragged by the dumper for 3 km. After a fire broke out in the front part of the dumper truck, the driver fled, leaving the vehicle, body and the scooter completely burned by then. The fire personnel who reached the spot controlled the fire.

The deceased woman was a native of Lucknow, and she got the job on compensation after her husband, who worked as an assistant accountant at the university, died in 2020.
