Bail to Kejriwal proves ED summons were ‘legal,’ says Delhi BJP chief

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Saturday hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind over taking bail in the ED summons evasion case, and said that the development clearly indicates that his failure to appear before the agency was wrong.

In a video message, Sachdeva said that Kejriwal today got bail in the summons skipping matter in the court, which clearly indicates that the summons which Kejriwal so far claimed were illegal, have turned out to be legally valid.

Sachdeva further said that the development also establishes that Delhi CM will have to comply in case the agency summons him again and appear for questioning in the liquor policy related probe.

Sachdeva further said that Kejriwal had to seek bail in the case of evasion of ED summons, under Section 174 filed in court, which means Kejriwal’s appearance was necessary.

The BJP leader has said that the situation will become clear with the detailed decision of the court, but initially it was clear that Kejriwal must appear before the ED when the ninth summons are issued and join in the investigation of the liquor scam.

The ED had earlier moved the court when Kejriwal skipped its summons for the fifth time, and recently again filed a complaint with the court over the same issue.

Earlier, the AAP and their chief had been claiming that the summons sent by the probe agency were unsustainable in law and also alleged that they were politically motivated.
