An Indian Army officer was killed and another critically injured in a sniper attack by Pakistan troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday afternoon.

Sources said that Pakistan troops opened sniper fire upon the Army’s 2/8 Gorkha Rifles posts in Jumgund area along the LoC.
Two army officers suffered serious injuries in the attack and they were immediately evacuated to military hospital Drugmulla where Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Subedar Gamar Thapa (42) succumbed to injuries.

The other injured has been identified as Junior Commissioned officer (JCO) Subedar Raman Thapa and was later shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital at Badami Bagh, Srinagar, for treatment.
Police confirmed the death of the JCO and injuries to another.
