This was India’s seventh win in the seven matches played against Pakistan in the quadrennial event so far.

India made 336 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in their quota of 50 overs. Wickets kept falling for Pakistan and no player could dig in his heels to make a way for the Men in Green. As rain interrupted the play, the DLS method handed Pakistan an unassailable target of 136 runs off 30 balls. Pakistan lost the match by 89 runs as they could manage only 212 runs in 40 overs.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Indian Team for playing an “amazing game”.

Senior BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal and Kiren Rijiju, who is also the Minister of State (independent) for Sports, tweeted congratulations.

The Congress party tweeted “Thank You” for the thumping victory.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot also wished the team.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti congratulated the India team for a “terrific performance”.
